Ultimate Intrinsic SNR in a Uniform Sphere

The ultimate intrinsic SNR (UISNR) at the center of a uniform dielectric sphere can be calculated analytically without performing complex simulations. This enables rapid and direct calculation of the UISNR, which may be used, for example, as an absolute reference to assess the performance of head coils with spherical phantoms.The Matlab code available here for download provides all functions necessary for the calculations. The package also includes a simple guide (PDF) that explains how to estimate the scaling factor for comparisons between experimentally measured SNR and UISNR calculated by this code.
