Research Interest: 

The proposed BTRC P41 proposal combines three areas of high-impact imaging technology development with a unique new model for interdepartmental and academic-industrial collaboration aimed at translating that technology rapidly and effectively into clinical practice. Dr. Ding will be responsible (co-PI) for the Technology Research and Development Project #3: Advancing MR and PET Through Synergistic Simultaneous Acquisition and Joint Reconstruction. She has over 20 years experience in the development and application of novel ligands for translational research from preclinical studies in animals to clinical studies in humans with PET, a noninvasive imaging technology that uses radiopharmaceuticals to trace in vivo physiology and pharmacology.

From 1998 until 2005, she was a key member of the PET team at the Brookhaven National Laboratory, rising to the highest rank, senior scientist with tenure. In 2005, she joined the faculty of Yale University as a tenured Professor of Diagnostic Radiology, Director of Chemistry Research and Development, and Co-Director of the Yale PET Center, where she lead the development and application of novel ligands for PET translational research, focusing on the investigation of functional significance of various molecular targets in CNS disorders, cardiology and oncology. She has also served as PI in various drug occupancy studies for Phase I and Phase II clinical trials collaborating with pharmaceutical companies. She has made significant contributions toward setting up a state-of-the-art radiochemistry lab and an extraordinary PET program at Yale PET Center prior to being recruited to NYU. She has over 180 peer-reviewed publications and 25 reviews and book chapters. In summary, she has demonstrated a record of successful and productive research projects in PET imaging, she will work with co-PI Dr. Fernando to supervise the TR&D #3 research team.
