Research Interest: 

The goal of my research to test, refine and validate novel dynamic breast MRI techniques to increase the diagnostic accuracy of breast MRI in the evaluation of breast cancer. Breast cancers are very heterogenous and mulitparametric breast MRI may allow for more personalized treatment of chemotherapy.  I have more than 15 years of clinical and research experience in using functional MR applications in breast MRI. I oversee the clinical 3T breast MRI Diagnostic and Interventional Program at the NYU Cancer Institute. Also, I collaborate with Dr. Brown and Madelin at the Center for Biomedical Imaging to develop our breast MRI and sodium MRI at 7T and to develop quantitative diffusion and perfusion MRI methods.  I have collaborated with Dr. Eric Sigmund and Dr. Sungheon Kim in exploring the roles of DCE-MRI and of intra-voxel incoherent motion (IVIM) imaging of tumor microenvironment in locally advanced breast cancer.  Another ongoing project is PET/MR of the breast.  My colleague, Amy Melsaether, MD, has been exploring the role of PET/MR in the evaluation of breast cancer and metastases.  Recently, we have collaborated with Kyunghyun Cho, PhD, at teh NYU Courant Institute to explore deep learning for screening mammography.
