We invite applications for a postdoctoral fellowship in quantitative breast cancer imaging.
The postdoctoral fellow will join a multi-disciplinary team of physicists, image processing scientists, radiologists, oncologists, and surgeons in order to work on breast cancer MRI with joint supervisors Eric Sigmund, PhD (at NYU Langone Health) and Sunitha Thakur, PhD (at Memorial Sloan Kettering Cancer Center).
The multi-site project aims to translate a technique of breast cancer characterization called intravoxel incoherent motion (IVIM) for reliable use on a broad scale.
Resposibilities will include and are not limited to:
- acquisition and analysis of advanced diffusion-weighted MRI of breast cancer tissue
- assistance in design and operation of physical phantoms for breast IVIM
- performance of simulations to compare signal processing approaches for IVIM
- presentation of results at conferences and in peer-reviewed publications
Candidates should have (or expect to shortly receive) a PhD in a relevant field, such as physics, engineering, mathematics, etc. Candidates should have experience with relevant programming languages (C or C++, Matlab, Python or similar). Last, candidates must be able to work independently and collaborate within a multidisciplinary team.
Experience in breast imaging, diffusion MRI or both is highly desirable. A record of peer-reviewed journal publications is recommended. Motivated individuals will have the opportunity to engage in independent research within the context of the study.
CAI2R (pronounced care) comprises approximately 150 full-time personnel dedicated to imaging research, development, and clinical translation. Our team is diverse and highly collaborative. We work in interdisciplinary, matrixed teams that include engineers, scientists, clinicians, technologists, and industry experts.
Joining our team means becoming part of a diverse community that values cross-pollination of ideas, celebrates creativity, and nurtures an environment conducive to breakthrough innovations.
The Center for Advanced Imaging Innovation and Research (CAI2R) is supported by the NIH and operated by the department of radiology at NYU Langone Health.
