Three PhD Students Tops at NYU Entrepreneur Challenge

Sackler Institute Doctor of Philosophy (PhD) candidates in biomedical imaging, Leeor Alon, 2013, Cem Murat Deniz, 2012, and Gene Young Cho, 2012, part of the RF Test Labs, LLC, management team, was one of two groups to win the NYU Technology Venture Competition.

RF Test Labs develops technology for measuring radio frequency power deposition, or heat, generated by wireless devices (e.g., mobile phones, tablets). RF Test Labs, started by Leeor Alon (PhD ’13), Gene Young Cho (PhD ’13) and Cem Murat Deniz (PhD ’12) from NYU’s School of Medicine, along with Iliyana Atanasova (PhD ’12), is introducing a premium specific absorption rate (SAR) testing service, which improves upon existing methods that are slow, costly and poor measurements of risk to consumers.

The NYU Technology Venture Competition, sponsored by the NYU Innovation Venture Fund, Lowenstein Sandler PC, and EisnerAmper LLP, serves as a catalyst for the creation of new and the acceleration of existing early stage businesses based on technologies developed by NYU students, faculty, and researchers.
